SOMO is pleased to announce the appointment of Claire Fernandez and Radboud van Delft to the SOMO Supervisory Board. Both Claire and Radboud bring a wealth of experience, knowledge and passion to the role.
Claire Fernandez is Executive Director of European Digital Rights (EDRi), the biggest European network defending rights and freedoms online. Before joining EDRi, she was Deputy Director of Programmes at the European Network against Racism. Claire is a committed human rights activist with a strong track record in civil society leadership. Her expertise on the technology sector and digital rights will be invaluable to SOMO as we expand our work on the power of Big Tech.
“SOMO’s unique research has the potential to inform many civil society actions, including in the digital rights field. SOMO and its partners expose the economic, social and environmental impact of multi-national corporations and highlight the power of communities to resist corporate harms. I’m honoured to contribute to sustaining SOMO’s efforts to be a resilient, forward-looking and diverse hub” says Claire Fernandez.
With a strong background in organisational management, Radboud van Delft takes up the role of Treasurer on SOMO’s Supervisory Board. Radboud has previously served as Organisation Director at PAX for Peace, Greenpeace International, and as Managing Director at Rank a Brand. He now works as a senior management consultant for civil society organisations. Radboud’s depth of expertise in organisational management brings additional strength and capacity to the Supervisory Board.
Radboud van Delft: “What I really appreciate of SOMO is the combination of thorough research and activism. SOMO’s mission to support and strengthen civil society movements is also my personal mission. So I am delighted and very motivated to be able to contribute to that mission by joining the Supervisory Board.”
Audrey Gaughran, Executive Director at SOMO: “I am delighted that Claire and Radboud have joined the SOMO Supervisory Board. As leaders in their fields, they both bring very relevant new skills and a depth of experience and knowledge into our organisation. I look forward to working with them.”
