Current world market prices for tea are historically low. There is evidence that his in turn has negatively affected working conditions and livelihoods of plantation workers and small-scale farmers in tea producing countries. Organizations of small-scale farmers and tea plantation workers are calling on governments, industry and consumers for drastic improvements in working conditions in the sector.
