On 19 December, the Dutch Senate will vote on the Child Labour Due Diligence Act In February 2017, a large majority in the Dutch House of Representatives passed the Child Labour Act proposal, drafted by former PvdA MP Roelof Van Laar and supported by civil society organisations and a growing number of companies.
The act requires companies in the Netherlands to make greater efforts to eliminate child labour in their production chains. And that is badly needed.
