
Multinational Chains in the Dutch Hotel and Catering Industry
The Dutch Interest Organisation for the Hotel and Catering Industry (Bedrijfschap Horeca) commissioned SOMO research on multinational chains that operate in the Dutch Hotel and Catering Industry. The purpose was to inform their members (hotel, catering workers and employers) of trends and developments regarding these chains.
The project resulted in a report with an evaluation and analysis of international and national trends within the Dutch hotel and catering industry, including profiles of the largest multinational chains. Some of the most important trends signaled in the report were the increasing concentration and scale and prominence of hotel groups and their brands. Prominent trends in the catering sector include increased out of home consumption, flexible work practices and the importance of procurement alliances.
