Roberta Cowan
The Counter Lead
Roberta Cowan is specialised in conducting and managing complex corporate investigations by ‘following the money’, regardless of whether the companies are public, private, big, small or just a letterbox. Roberta started at SOMO as a Senior Corporate Researcher before setting up The Counter investigations desk, where she is responsible for the team, and has successfully delivered hundreds of investigations since The Counter launched. Roberta gives trainings and lectures about conducting investigations, corporate research, and research methods.
Prior to joining SOMO, Roberta worked for more than a decade as a journalist reporting financial, technology, pharmaceutical, equity, corporate and political news for Canadian Press, Dow Jones, The Wall Street Journal and Reuters. In an earlier period, she coordinated global environmental campaigns focused on development finance at Friends of the Earth International. Roberta holds a Bachelor of Honour’s degree in Political Science from Queen’s University in Canada.
