The earnings model of the pharmaceutical industry needs to be overhauled

The pharmaceutical industry – essential in the pandemic – did not invest enough in medicines such as coronavirus inhibitors, but allowed itself to be emptied like an ATM by shareholders. The high profit margins on medicines, possibly partly due to publicly funded research, are also detrimental to society. Big Pharma urgently needs a restart.
