Open letter to EU and US negotiators on free trade agreement

More than 50 NGOs issued an open letter with a strong warning to the EU and US negotiators who had another round of talks to make progress towards a far reaching agreement (TTIP or Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) in the week of 29 September to 3 October 2014.

NGOs object to proposals on the table that will endanger financial regulations and reforms through rules that restrict what parliaments and regulators can do, and through an unaccountable mechanism of consultations before financial laws are presented to Parliaments (‘regulatory cooperation’).

The Commissioner designate Lord Hill for financial services and financial stability this week declared that financial services should be an essential part of TTIP. Will he take the concerns and objections into account?
