Dutch government dodges parliamentary questions on SOMO’s research on corporate lobbying

The Dutch government has refused to give concrete answers to parliamentary questions about the lobbying of Dutch employers’ federation VNO-NCW with the Dutch government on legislation for corporate accountability. In an article published in May, SOMO showed how VNO-NCW, together with its European umbrella organisation BusinessEurope, tries to restrict and weaken these regulations. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs does not want to say how often ministers or the Dutch EU representation discussed this possible legislation with the business lobbyists between 2019 and 2021.
