How Dutch financial institutions enable shale gas to fuel the plastic soup disaster

ING Bank and ABN Amro Bank fully finance companies that extract shale gas and produce plastics on a large scale. With $4 billion, ING is by far the largest financier. Rabobank finances one plastic company, but no shale gas company and Van Lanschot invests in it. NIBC, Triodos Bank and de Volksbank (ASN and SNS) do not invest in the ten researched companies. This appears from a new study by the Fair Bank Guide (Eerlijke Bankwijzer). SOMO contributed to the research.
