Hoewel het duidelijk is dat bedrijven als Bristol, Scapino en Wortmann (bekend van de merken Caprice en Marco Tozzi) hun leren schoenen uit Bangladesh betrekken, blijft onbekend of zij leer uit Bangladesh gebruiken. Onderzoekers van SOMO kregen hierop geen antwoord, ook niet toen we deze bedrijven vroegen wat zij doen om arbeidsrechtenrisico&#8217;s bij de leerproductie te voorkomen, of om concrete problemen op te lossen.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Martje Theuws (SOMO): &#8220;De toeleveringsketens van deze schoenen- en leermerken blijven verborgen, terwijl transparantie en open communicatie de norm zouden moeten zijn in zo&#8217;n risicovolle sector. Het is onmogelijk om inkopers aan te spreken op misstanden in een land als Bangladesh als er geen openbare informatie is over wie wat waar inkoopt.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Voor dit onderzoek nam SOMO contact op met 13 schoenenbedrijven en 14 leerimporteurs.
