Laura Ceresna is Policy Advisor voor Corporate Accountability bij Cividep in Bangalore, India. In dit artikel meer over het werk van Cividep.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"external-link\" title=\"\" href=\"..\/organisations-nl\/CIVIDEP?set_language=nl\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">Cividep India<\/a> is opgericht in 2000. De organisatie verbetert de positie van werknemers en gemeenschappen en ziet erop toe dat bedrijven voldoen aan mensenrechten, arbeidsrechten en milieunormen. Cividep geeft les aan arbeiders, agendeert maatschappelijk verantwoord ondernemen en doet onderzoek naar de elektronica-, textiel-, leer-, plantage-, mijnbouw- en banksector. Een cruciaal verschil tussen Cividep en de meeste andere ngo\u2019s in India is de focus op arbeidsrechten en &#8216;corporate accountability&#8217;, in plaats van mensenrechten in algemene zin.<\/p>\n<p>Laura Ceresna komt oorspronkelijk uit Berlijn, studeerde af in International Development Studies aan de Universiteit van Amsterdam en werkt nu in Bangalore. Ze legt uit waar Cividep voor staat: \u201cWij willen dat alle werknemers in India kunnen rekenen op een eerlijk, behoorlijk loon zodat zij, en de mensen die van hen afhankelijk zijn, een waardig leven kunnen lijden. Het is daarbij noodzakelijk om bestaande wetten, zoals vakbondsvrijheid, strikter te handhaven. Hierdoor kunnen arbeiders hun rechten effectief uitoefenen of de mogelijkheid tot herstel krijgen als deze geschonden zijn. We pleiten bovendien voor bindende regelgeving waarmee bedrijven ter verantwoording geroepen kunnen worden voor hun negatieve impact op mensenrechten en milieu.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Het mogelijk maken<\/h2>\n<p>\u201cCividep heeft een aanzienlijke hoeveelheid expertise op het gebied van bedrijfsaansprakelijkheid en gerelateerde kwesties\u201d, zegt Virginia Sandjojo, co\u00f6rdinator van het OECD Watch netwerk. \u201cZe hebben veel ervaring in het geven van trainingen over klachtmechanismen, waaronder die van de OESO-richtlijnen voor multinationale ondernemingen. Cividep heeft op succesvolle wijze deze buitengerechtelijke klachtenprocedures onder de aandacht gebracht in India en de regio.\u201d<br \/>\nSOMO-onderzoeker Martje Theuws vult aan: \u201cDaarnaast deden zij succesvol onderzoek naar de problemen die vrouwen in het bijzonder ondervinden in de kledingindustrie in India. Cividep staat in nauw contact met deze vrouwen, informeert hen over hun rechten en moedigt ze aan om voor zichzelf op te komen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Laura licht toe: \u201cDe samenwerking met SOMO heeft het voor ons mogelijk gemaakt om relevante projecten aan te gaan voor de bescherming van arbeids- en mensenrechten in India en bovendien deel te nemen aan belangrijke internationale trainingen en bijeenkomsten. Zelf geven we trainingen aan arbeiders en vakbondsactivisten uit de elektronica- en textielindustrie in India, bijvoorbeeld over sociale voorzieningen &amp; gezondheid en veiligheid op het werk. GoodElectronics en OECD Watch hebben hier allebei aan bijgedragen. In de elektronicasector organiseren we ook vier keer per jaar een studiekring, waar ongeveer tien tot vijftien arbeiders naartoe gaan die zelf het onderwerp bepalen.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Vakbonden vormen binnen Foxconn en Nokia<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.somo.nl\/nl\/phony-equality\/\">Phony Equality<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Als hoogtepunten van de samenwerking tussen SOMO en Cividep noemt Laura de gezamenlijke publicaties van de afgelopen jaren over de elektronicasector. \u201c\u2018Voor <a class=\"external-link\" title=\"\" href=\"..\/publications-nl\/Publication_3697-nl\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">Phony Equality<\/a>\u2019 uit 2011 hebben we voor het eerst interviews kunnen houden met het management en de fabrieken bezocht, ook op de werkvloer. Dit rapport hebben we onder de vlag van het makeITfair project kunnen maken, in samenwerking met SOMO en Finnwatch.\u201d Het meest recente gezamenlijke rapport verscheen in mei 2015 en heet \u2018<a class=\"external-link\" title=\"\" href=\"..\/publications-nl\/Publication_4187-nl\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">Nokia Disconnected<\/a>\u2019. Laura was in een vroeg stadium betrokken bij het rapport, deed deskresearch en analyseerde de ervaringen van arbeiders, verzameld via interviews in het veld. \u201cWe constateerden dat het \u2018schakelprogramma\u2019 van Nokia, bedoeld om werknemers te helpen bij het vinden van een nieuwe baan en te voorzien van de juiste scholing, niet goed werd ontvangen door de werknemers zelf. Ze vonden het niet aansluiten op hun realiteit. In India steunt Cividep werknemers en werknemersorganisaties in de elektronica-industrie langs de Chennai-Bangalore snelweg en in het bijzonder in de \u2018Sriperumbudur special economic zone (SEZ)\u2019 waar verschillende elektronicaproducenten gevestigd zijn. De organisatie informeert arbeiders over hun rechten en draagt daarmee bij aan hun vakbondsvorming. arbeiders.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMet hulp van SOMO is het ons gelukt om arbeiders in de elektronicasector bekwamer te maken in het claimen van hun arbeidsrechten en het vormen of lid worden van vakbonden\u201d, zegt Laura. \u201cDat er daadwerkelijk vakbonden zijn opgericht in organisaties als Foxconn en Nokia kan worden gezien als concrete resultaten van ons werk.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\t<div
